Join the TimberNook team for a weeklong journey as campers are stranded on a deserted island, ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and teamwork. With a focus on hands-on activities and exploration, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your problem-solving skills, creativity, and leadership abilities. Inclusivity is a top priority at TimberNook Central Virginia. The team at TimberNook provides a welcoming environment for children and families of all abilities, backgrounds, and belief systems.
Please note that campers will need to bring their own food and water, and families will be informed of any allergies before camp begins.
The TimberNook staff takes a hands-off approach, allowing children to develop their conflict resolution skills while maintaining visual contact and stepping in when safety concerns them. Children must always keep a TimberNook staff member in sight, stay within the designated boundaries of our site, and take care of their own needs (such as eating, drinking, and using the restroom).
What are the ages for a TimberNook Summer Camp?
TimberNook is designed for children ages 5-12. Children will be grouped with peers similar in age after registration. We may be able to accommodate siblings of different ages, so please reach out to us prior to registration if this is the case.
What is the Cost of a TimberNook Summer Camp?
As a parent, I loved that TimberNook has both a half day and full day option to accommodate working parents or those who are just looking for a half day camp option and still want time with their children in the afternoon as well.
Full day outdoor TimberNook summer camp is 350 dollars for 5 days of all day camp.
Half Day outdoor TImberNook summer camp is 175 dollars for 5 days of half day camp.

What does my child need to bring to a TimberNook Summer Camp?
This class is 100% outside and 100% fun; dress your child in closed-toed shoes and clothing they can climb, play and get VERY messy in. Children should bring a hearty snack, lunch, and a refillable water bottle from home. TimberNook Central Virginia’s summer experience runs from 9 am to 3 pm.
Who created TimberNook and Why?
TimberNook began as an experiment in pediatric occupational therapist Angela Hanscom’s own backyard. She was hoping to make a difference in her local community. Now, her experiment has become an amazing journey that is making a difference for children in communities across the world. Angela is the Author of Balanced and Barefoot, Angela Hanscom frequently attends Speaking Engagements around the world to speak on how outdoor play makes for strong, confident, and capable children.
Where is TimberNook Camp Located in Richmond VA?
Conveniently located right off the Powhite Parkway in North Chesterfield, VA, the Timbernook Summer Camp is on 15 acres of forest are an easy drive from anywhere in the greater Richmond area.
