Great Wolf Lodge MagiQuest Review

The adventure of a lifetime for your entire family during Magiquest adventures.  You may have heard all of the hype of the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark, but the live-action game Magiquest brings unlimited play fun.  Great Wolf Lodge lived up to all of the hype plus some for our family trip to Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg, VA last week.

Great Wolf Lodge Family MagiQuest Adventure Review

We soaked all of the Great Wolf Lodge fun in and are already looking forward to our next trip.  I did a family review of our overall trip to Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg here and shared the cost, dining options, attractions, and a full video of our lodging.  We loved the Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg Indoor Water park, and I shared our favorite aspects for our children and attractions.

Great Wolf Lodge MagiQuest Review

The one aspect that I vastly underestimated before arriving at Great Wolf Lodge for our first time in terms of what my children would enjoy was MagiQuest.  My 8-year-old loved MagiQuest SO MUCH that he asked to leave the indoor water park, and that is saying a lot!  MagiQuest was such a family hit that I wanted to devote a whole blog post so that your family is prepared for Magiquest when you arrive at Great Wolf Lodge.

What is MagiQuest Great Wolf Lodge?

MagiQuest helps you fully immerse yourself in Vellara, the realm of imagination, as you help the Guardians to protect the Realm Portals. Along the way, befriend the Treetop Pixies in the forest realms, battle the evil dragon, Charlock, recover stolen jewels from the Goblin King, and earn the title of Master Magi while having a lot of fun.

MagiQuest turns the hallways and walkways, and lobby of the hotel into an interactive experience with magical items and actual game that will keep your child running, exploring and interacting with every hallway and piece of artwork and fixture on the wall and ceiling. If your child enjoys playing video game options then Magiquest will be a hit.

Where Do I Go to Get Started with MagiQuest?

Head to the Magiquest store to purchase your wand and game and get started.  A staff member will give you a map and basic instructions before you begin your quest. The staff at the magiquest store will help you with game activation.    The shop has cool gear to purchase for your MagiQuest lover too!

I would definitely give MagiQuest a shot, it’s such a fun way to keep your child or teen busy and active. My son made so many new friends while playing MagiQuest.  They were helping each other, giving tips to kids just arriving at Great Wolf Lodge Williamsburg, and having such a great time.  He is thrilled to come back to the Great Wolf Lodge to embark on new quests and keep the MagiQuest fun going at our next visit.

What do you do with a Magic Wand at Great Wolf Lodge?

The special magic wand is necessary to begin and do MagiQuest live-action adventure game.  You wave the Magiquest wands at various pieces on the walls, hallways, realms and ceilings to complete quests and move throughout the quest to become a Magi Master with extra special powers.

As you are using your magic wand, items around the Great Wolf Lodge hotel will light up, open or shut, or make noises.   As you check in at the portals throughout the Great Wolf Lodge hotel to check in about progress, where to head to next, or what you need to look for, the portal will greet your Magi by name!

Is there a MagiQuest at every Great Wolf Lodge Location?

YES! Every Great Wolf Lodge location has a MagiQuest attraction.  The MagiQuest set ups all look different at various locations with decorations which makes it fun to do as your family visits multiple Great Wolf Lodge locations across US and Canada.

What is the Minimum Age for MagiQuest?

Even preschool age and younger child will love MagiQuest.  You can customize their wand in the Magic shop so that it is programmed to Mini Magi Mode.  In Mini Magi Mode treasure chests open and crystals glow bright, every wave of the wand will surprise and delight! For kids age five and under, Mini Magi Mode provides all the magic of MagiQuest but in a game that is specifically designed for younger Magi to explore and experience throughout the lodge.

My 3-year-old loved taking his magic wand around the hotel and felt like he was playing the game with his brothers.

What ages is Magi Quest Best for?

Great Wolf Lodge is designed with a 7–13-year-old in mind but my 5-year-old loved MagiQuest too!  It really depends on what your child is interested in.  My 8-year-old loves puzzles, video games, and challenges and this was right up his alley. Older kids to read the prompts and navigate the portals which was extremely helpful.

What is the Cost of MagiQuest?

If you purchase the Wolf Pass MagiQuest game and wand is included.  If you purchase separately the new wand fee is between $17.99-$22.99.  There are various styles of wands but we chose the basic model that was included with our pass which was really cool.  The MagiQuest game new games $13.99.  Once you have the magic wand, you don’t need to buy it ever again.  When you return to Great Wolf Lodge the best thing is you will bring your wand back and pick up where you left off!

What happens if I Complete the Quest?

When you complete the Magic quest you are named a Magi Master, which a ceremony in the lobby of course.  My 8-year-old thought this was so cool and as evidenced by the amount of kids pumped to be knighted I think it was across the board.  Your name is on the leader board for points and for newly knighted Magi Masters.  A character comes out to the lobby and takes a photo and a staff member reads your name and it is a fun way to celebrate how hard they worked!

Is it Worth it to buy a Magic wand?

It is 1000% worth it to buy a MagiQuest wand.  Even if your child does not spend a ton of time doing the MagiQuest game, they can interact with things around the resort and will have for future visits. My children love taking their wand home and playing with it.  They also use it on Harry Potter themed days at school too!

Some overnight guest / families report buying a wand on Magiquest marketplace, if you are looking to save some money, this can be a great option.

What are the Hours of MagiQuest?

When the waterpark is open MagiQuest is fair game.  The Magiquest computers and stations turn off at a specific time.
