One of my very favorite family traditions in Central Virginia is pumpkin picking with the entire family.  There are so many amazing locations to hunt for that perfect pumpkin and enjoy all of the fun activities that the fall season has to offer!  Fall fun in Virginia is my favorite there are always fall festival to check out and outdoor activities galore for the whole family to enjoy.

  1. 🎃Ashland Berry Farm🎃

 Ashland Berry Farm comes alive with a 30-acre pumpkin patch and fun fall family activities. Also, for those interested more in a terrifying type of visit we are known for Terror On The Farm Virginia's premier haunted experience on Saturday evenings.  Pick your own pumpkins happens in October!  Bring your strongest friend for all you can carry pumpkins for 20$.  Pile them on and see how many you can take home for a steal.  Do not leave without having a treat from the store.

2. 🎃Boulevard Flower Garden🎃


Boulevard Flower Gardens is a third generation owned & operated garden center serving South Chesterfield, Va. since 1955. Take advantage of lots of free photo ops, see the new animals and pick your own pumpkins with no admission! They now have the following farm animals available: pigs, goats, chickens, geese, an alpaca and sheep in the back! only $1 for a cup of food.

Kids will love thefree playgrounds, tires, sand pit and more! All available anytime we're open. Browse the garden center too while you're there for lots of Fall decor! Most importantly, you cannot leave without grabbing some kettle corn! Located right off I-95 at exit 58. an easy commute from anywhere in the RVA area!

3. 🎃Chesterfield Berry Farm🎃

Chesterfield Berry Farm is a pick your own pumpkin local tradition for generations of families.  The pick your own pumpkin patch set up is free admission and comes with a TON of activities in the play area for families!  Chesterfield Berry Farm has moon bounces out for the kids, free hayrides to the patch, PYO pumpkins, petting zoo animals, duck races and pig races.  Even if you have been in previous years for pumpkin patch visiting you will want to check out the new Super Fun Maze-O-Vision 8 Acre corn giant corn maze that is a Pirate Ship Corn Maze, a dedicated smaller Kids Corn Maze, Corn Cannons and so much more!!!!

4. 🎃Cross Creek Nursey and Landscaping🎃 

Cross Creek is a Richmond family run business.  With fun festivals available like the Scarecrow Festival, where you can Bring your little ones to make an adorable jack-o'-lantern arrangement.  You can find food trucks, pumpkin painting, a haunted hayride, moon bounce, and lots of beautiful and fun photo opportunities.  All of the activities available at Cross Creek are free activities.

 Cross Creek isn't a traditional pick your own pumpkin patch, but they have plenty of pumpkins, corn stalks, gourds, and fall flowers to choose from. Feel free to bring your furry friend - dogs are always welcome at the nursery!  There is no admission fee for Cross Creek Nursery.  With two locations, your family can easily access this pumpkin based fun from anywhere in Richmond, VA.  You will not want to miss the wide varieties of pumpkins and fall activities that Cross Creek has to offer!

5. 🎃Gallmeyer Farms🎃

Gallmeyer Farms welcomes you and your family to the Pumpkin Patch, where they offer a popular low-key “on the farm” family experience. Bring your children out to enjoy free activities: hayrides, spooky house tours, the straw bale maze, and the romping pile. All Gallmeyer pumpkins growing right in the fields are jack-o-lantern pumpkins for your pick-your-own pleasure. Their selected pumpkin varieties grow from between 1 and 100+ pounds. Other popular fall offerings: pie pumpkins, winter squash, Indian corn, straw bales, corn shocks and gourds of many shapes, sizes and colors. You can always shop for an assortment of fresh and tasty, locally grown Gallmeyer Farms fresh produce available, as well as our Gallmeyer Farms 100% pure local raw honey collected from their very own hives!

There is a limited number of picnic tables, but we have plenty of space in a picnic area for you to throw a blanket on the ground for a good ol’ fashioned picnic!

6.🎃Hanover Vegetable Farm🎃


Hanover Vegetable Farm takes pumpkin patch family fun to a whole new level with activities galore. Activities for the month include Corn maze, Petting Barn (feed is $1). Corn Cannons,Corn crib, Giant Sand Box,  Charlotte’s Web Hide and Seek,Face Painting (additional cost) and pony rides.  You will definitely work up an appetite after picking pumpkins and doing all of those fun fall activities so enjoy delicious meals from amazing local food trucks.


All tickets include the hay ride. Ride as many times as you like.  Hanover Vegetable Farm also hosts multiple festivals during the fall with 10+ wineries and ciders, 50+ craft vendors, live entertainment and music and lots more for the whole family. 🎃7. Levi's Pumpkins🎃

Come get your pumpkins for the fall season from one of the sweetest small stops in Richmond, VA! We have many sizes available and they are ready for you, just steps from your car. We also have gourds, cornstalks, straw hay bales and ornamental yard displays for sale. Bring your family and experience a small pumpkin patch. If you do not want to bother with crowds Levi’s Pumpkins is the pumpkin patch for you.

8.🎃Lloyd Family Farms🎃

The Lloyd Family farm continues to expand and operate with 3rd and 4th generation Lloyd owners. We have hayrides, largest corn maze, TWO corn pit options (one for the little ones and one for the big ones). Huge Straw maze Castle obstacle course, barnyard meet and greet we have goats chickens a lot of horses and cows!

With 60 varieties of pumpkin squash and gourds! We have a face painter and we have some really great food trucks! There is definitely something for everyone at this beautiful big farm.  The space is so huge that you can go and not feel crowded even on a busy day.

Pick-Your-Own Pumpkin is a family favorite at Mt. Olympus Berry Fam! Take a walk through our field and pick your favorite pumpkin or a few to take home! 10.🎃Skinquarter Farm🎃

Skinquarter Farmer is an amazing location for pick your own pumpkins in Richmond, Virginia.  Free and huge parking lot right off of Hull Street and a easy flat walk right onto the patch!  The sweetest corn maze awaits that is perfect for younger children and free hayrides as well.  There is a great play area for kids with sand and toys and plenty of picnic tables to sit and play for hours!  The farm market is full of so much amazing fresh produce for an additional fee.  But the real gem is Jimer's Frozen Custard before you head home.

11.🎃Swift Creek Berry Farm🎃

Join Richmond, Va Swift Creek Berry Farm each fall for one of their favorite times of year. They carry a variety of gourds, pie pumpkins, ugly knotty pumpkins and carving pumpkins. There will be plenty to choose from. Don't forget to visit the greenhouse side for your fall mums and pansies. They sell corn stalks and straw bales for your decoration needs. Windy Knoll Farm has been a local farm in Hanover County for over 50 years. This beautiful farm is available for picking pumpkins in September and October and is so excited to welcome returning guests and new families to the pumpkin patch.
